Originally from the Dominican Republic, Maria Chanlatte moved to the United States in 2012. Upon settling in New York City, she was quickly drawn to the challenges faced by immigrant communities, a passion that would become the cornerstone of her career. During her time in New York, Maria dedicated herself to volunteering at Catholic Charities, where she assisted with Citizenship workups, helping individuals navigate the complexities of the naturalization process. Additionally, she supported City Harvest by providing food for families in need and worked on gaining more food donations from establishments to support the community. Advocating for those in need has always been at the heart of her mission.
Her passion for global affairs and social justice began in her high school years in the Dominican Republic, where she participated in United Nations (UN) Model programs. These experiences sparked her interest in economics and global political matters, and inspired her to pursue a career where she could make a tangible impact on people's lives.
She has extensive experience working with humanitarian cases, including VAWA petitions, U-Visas, Consular Processing, and Waivers cases that are particularly meaningful to her. She has worked on various other immigration cases, ranging from family-based petitions and asylum cases to Non-Immigrant Visa (NIV) applications, Adjustment of Status, and removal of conditions. Her expertise in navigating the intricacies of immigration law has helped countless individuals and families secure a better future. Her empathetic approach allows her to establish strong connections with her clients, which is key to achieving successful outcomes.
Later in her career, Maria relocated to another state to expand her horizons and continue her advocacy work in a new community, ensuring that her passion for helping others remained her professional focus.
Outside of her work, she's an avid reader and nature enthusiast, often enjoying peaceful moments outdoors, whether it’s basking in the warmth of a spring day or watching a storm unfold. She also enjoys hiking and traveling, where she immerses herself in new cultures, explores diverse cuisines, and learns new languages.
Maria is fluent in Spanish, English, and French. She brings a global perspective and a deep appreciation for the world’s diversity. Driven by a desire to serve and make a meaningful difference, she's dedicated to helping her clients navigate complex immigration processes, advocating for their rights, and supporting them through every step of their journey.
